Blue Sailor
This manipulation is a photo I took of a tree by the water’s edge in Parc Angrignon, at the west of Montreal. I used DeepArt and applied the style of Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” to produce this final image. This is what Munsch said about his original piece:
I was walking along the road with two friends – the sun was setting – suddenly the sky turned blood red – I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence – there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city – my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety – and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.
The German title of “The Scream” is Der Schrei der Natur (“The Scream of Nature.”) When I looked at my manipulation, I saw a distorted face as the focal point of the image. The red-orange of Munsch’s sunset swirled around the personage, who looked trapped in the swirling chaos. And so, I named my piece in honor of Munsch.
