The Anika Collage

My little granddaughter and her family were visiting and we all went to the zoo. She as wearing the cutest little Minnie Mouse dress and I couldn’t resist taking many pictures of her. This one of her in the sunlight against the barrier on the elephant habitat was especially cute. I enjoyed making this collage showing the bright sunlight but making parts of her face stark white.

#2 Step 2: Skin Tones

The skin doesn't have to be perfect. It matters more to get the values right; the lights and darks.

#3 Step 4: Adding details.

In the photo she was looking at an elephant at the zoo. I wanted her to have something in the field of view to see so I added a butterfly. Other details were added to the log and her dress.

#4 Step 1: Drawing and laying in background.

I usually begin with a pencil drawing. Then I find the background pieces that look like they will make the subject pop forward.

#5 Step 3: Clothes

My granddaughter was wearing the cutest little Minnie Mouse dress that day. The reds and blacks really looked good on her.
