“The Journey Begins”
This is the continuation of my black and white photographic collage series. There is a faint touch of color here. High resolution prints are available but that is not really the point. I never sell much of anything and I just keep making them anyway. This image uses pictures from the boatyard where I live. I frequently photograph the boats being repaired there. Once I have a picture of anything it becomes fair game as a collage element. All the elements I use are from my personal photographs. A big part of the fun for me is getting photos of elements I need for the work.
I hope you enjoyed the lunch menu. Remember “Blue Plate Specials”? I probably just betrayed my age. Thanks for stopping by.
Nice theme and image…………….
Thanks so much Pamela. These are really some of my favorites. I made this while I was packing my house to leave where I had lived for 40 years. New beginnings …
Wow! This picture is fabulous
Thank you very much. I’m catching up on comments i missed – sorry for the delay.
There is a better view here. Not a solicitation – it’s a way to see the better resolution version. https://glen-faxon.pixels.com/featured/a-journey-begins-glen-faxon.html
Super picture … I really like this technique.
I agree. This technique is fun. All the elements ar from my photos that I took and there were no scissors needed. I love combining photos
Think that I saw this ship on the clouds in my dream – it seems so familiar. Very memorable and beautiful image!!!
Thanks so much. At this time I was packing my house to leave where I had lived for 40 years. I used this boat also in another picture It’s named Discovery and was built in 1931.
Sorry I didn’t answer sooner. My computer use is sometimes spotty.
Love the image… feel of freedom!
Thanks so much. Yes, freedom and promise. The beginning of a journey is always exciting
the notion of a ship sailing on clouds is quite surreal
I have to say that many things have been put into clouds by me, … I think because it’s just too easy perhaps. There is a shipyard here that specializes in wooden boat construction and repair so I have a lot of boats out of water pictures. Boats and clouds are a bit of a cliche – sorry.
have you ever considered that such images are prolific because the imagery is potent? you owe me no apology, my good man
A wind theme pops out at me here – the balloons etc. Beautiful!
Indeed I remember the blue plate specials Howard. Your images are so creative.
Love the subject of this one.
Thanks Carol.
A time of change, something’s in the wind, new places – I will be posting more boats probably because my camera keeps dragging me down to that boatyard.
Just go with it Howard. It seems to have great things in store for all of us to see.
This is very interesting. At one time, while I went to school, we did this at the time of art education.I really like this technique.
They are very fun to make. I like trying to visualize a dreamlike image and bring it out into the light of day.
Cheers 🙂
