scifi surfaces expanded – WIP

in a previous installment, I posted some surface tests. while I feel that I was quite clear that they were just surfaces applied to a primitive for ease of rendering, there still seems to be some confusion about the process so I will attempt to clear that up

#1 surface test

something like this is just quick to render and I can read all the info I need from this, and see what needs to be adjusted

#2 raw

threw in a space marine just so there was a foreground element

#3 color grading

but of course, I can't just do a raw render. I reflexively add postwork to everything

#4 whoops

I forgot that I can flip the texture, which would've been great here. right now it is messing with her face

#5 contextualized material

now I've applied it to a cube, and then applied a tactile pavement surface to a plane so there is a floor...

  1. The same here on my blogs if a story is not really a great good news story since the person who did the good deed by buying Girl Scouts cookies in South Carolina was later take into custody for robbery.
