Another of the many buildings at the Frick Estate was the Frick Art Museum. Inside they had an unusual oil painting from the artist Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), Flemish. It was called “Elenore De Bourbon, Princesse De Conde”. A very unusual exhibit was going on where a contemporary artist had reproduced the outfits of women in famous paintings such as this and did them in paper. This exhibit was called “Isabelle de Borchgrave: Fashioning Art from Paper” and was right next to the Rubens painting.
Very interesting. We rarely get to go to see these things. Well, I could go by myself.
Beautiful painting by Rubens and great looking reproduction by this contemporary artist.
