The matte makes the pipe look to be more corroded. You could have worked on that Days Gone video game that just came out.

I like glossy because the impression of the iron pipe becomes stronger, just a little curious about the pillar which looks a bit like icy.

Glossy actually looks too glossy to me. I like the stale vibe that matte gives.
How did you make that background, I mean the landscape? Was it a photo?

yes, the background is just a photo. and just how glossy is metal meant to be after being exposed to the elements, acid rain and lord knows what else?

Not sure, it depends on the type of metal.
Exactly, I’d expect something traditional such as rust and corrosion, but ‘lord knows what else’ could do more. ?-
some level of corrosion and wear are expected, as opposed to the glossiness but another huge factor is- how long has it been exposed?
