Lion Heads at the Museum of Fine Arts St Pete

We are looking around in the St Pete Museum of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Florida.  There are many wings in the museum showing different types of art. Here we are in the wing showing works of art from Greece, Rome and Egypt. These are a couple of Roman bronze lion heads with rings used on a piece of furniture from near AD 20. The dark areas are where iron fasteners were used and subsequently rusted. These are a popular motif used still today for door knockers, drawer pulls and furniture door openers. The second photo shows a modern day copy of the lions heads used still today in furniture.
