Love ItLove It

Flash Fiction: The Final Thought

“You are not serious,” Sam said in disbelief.

“I mean it,” Jane said. “We cannot be living as if there is no tomorrow.” She picked up her bag which contained her possessions including clothes. “I’m going back home.”

“But, we’ve been having a good time,” he said.

“Yah, for all the wrong reasons. Look, I have lost a lot of precious time and I ain’t gonna lose anymore of it.”

He stood at the door to block her exit. “Don’t be childish,” she said. “If you don’t let me get out, I will scream.”

“I knew you were taking advantage of me. You have never loved me,” he said.

“I no longer know the meaning of love but one thing I know, I owe my parents an apology and another chance to go back to school. I now know they meant good for me.”

“What about me?”

She pushed her way through the door. She halted a few centimeters from the door but didn’t turn to face him. “You’ve to learn what you want in life. Time has taught me the hard way that I shouldn’t waste it aimlessly. Goodbye, Sam.”

“You’re evil,” he said but she had already left.
