Beaming fronds
of looking blues
fresh from birth
firmed
on a ruddy pair of cheeks
her golden blues
flew
as the morning wind blew
extended hands
open palms
energies
aligned
to nothing but prank
and nothing to hide
we were so frank
climbing the hillside
to a breathless
60 pounds frame
we were a pair
with a group
of innocent wrongdoers
disturbing rocks,
wandering forests
playing silvered
waters
in faraway brooks
as our pets
complained
of the heavy day worked
yet with a chance
to hunt sparrow or two
honey jars upturned
cookies stolen
unripe fruits stolen
from trees
that were yet to
bow and bend
plucking colors
from blooms
akin snatches
minding no
Gardner scheme
and yet be ready
with a face
shamed
when chides
and sticks came
we would retire
in a corner
with little tears in eyes
comparing the red lines
left on our palms
for our misdeeds
which later
turned
into closed in
hugs, so tight
that we knew
our parents
loved us dear
we could not
contest it
and doing thus
was some fight.
Oh! childhood
you were so forthright
and why and why
are you, now, out of sight!
