Paintdrips
I love this wrinkled paper effect. I draw the picture I wish to paint first on the paper in pencil. Then I wet the paper and wad it up as if to throw it away. I have to be very careful unwrapping it after that because wet paper can tear easily. Sometimes I do get a few tears around the edges or even in the middle but it never shows in the finished painting so I don’t worry about it much. Then I begin painting on the wet wrinkled paper and I get this lovely cracked glass look. When the paper is dry enough I work on the fine details. Layer upon layer, watercolor can achieve a very vibrant deep color if you keep working over subsequent dry layers. This Dahlia is one of my favorites.
