Caryatid – remix

So many of you have seen my caryatid piece, which is the final painting for my Dia de los Muertos shows this year. I thought it looked nice but when I went to print it, the piece was WAY too dark. Instead of trying to calibrate it to print right, I just reworked the entire thing. Here are all the variants…

But if you're gonna do a sunset piece, why not throw in a soft filter lens? Generally when I darken my work, I tend to vignette the corners to keep the focus on the center. Turns out you can do that when you lighten a piece too, but it is a bit more tricky...

it looks fine here but it printed out almost entirely black, so much for WYSIWYG
