As I have mentioned here before, I have written a vegan cookery book I am trying to have published. I need to have photographs of at least half of the recipes, and I don’t have the budget to pay for that at present (the estimated cost is likely to run into thousands of pounds). So I have set up a crowdfunding page to see if I can raise the money for the photographs that way. I am not expecting miracles, but possibly there are some people who might be in a position to help me out with this venture.
It’s highly unlikely the book will sell without photographs, and I have no money to pay for that service at present, so this is my only option. I am hoping that once it is published, it may open doors for me as a writer, hope I can do that full-time, and escape from my current life of penury. I have shared the link to the page here in case anyone would like to support this project. All donors will be credited in the book, once it comes out in print! If anyone here could donate, and/or share on the Internet, I would be extremely grateful.

This is good. I have just come this recently. Hope it is getting momentum. All is well.
I’ve given up on this venture for now Gil; no one donated to my crowdfunding page, and I can’t get the photos done without the money to pay for them, so I have put it on a backburner for now. I have written another book though, a self-help one, which I have just self-published on Amazon. I will shortly be sharing the link to that here; just need to wait a few days before I can go live with it. So watch this space!

Great, LaJenna! I will let you know when it is out then. That will probably be some time though, i.e. years, as I still need to get the photos done for it. I have written another book I am shortly due to self-publish, so I am focussing on that one at present.

Photography is a part of my bread and butter! If I lived a bit closer, I would do it for you just to watch you thrive! Surely there is someone like me in your friendship circle 🙂 Good luck! Hi Windy Grace, thank you so much for sharing! I have definitely considered those ideas you mention, but the photos will need to be of a professional standard, and I can’t do that, neither can any of my friends. Food photography is somewhat specialised, and I really have left no stone unturned trying to find someone to do it. But it appears that the only option is to pay a professional photographer, which I can’t afford at present. I will get them done at some point though; just have to raise the cash, hence crowdfunding.
I am sure this is a very challenging and competitive thing to do. How is it going?
It’s at a standstill at present Carol, thank you for asking anyway. I shared the link in a few different places and no one donated at all, much to my disappointment. I wasn’t expecting any huge amounts, but I thought at least one or two friends might give me £10, or £20, etc, but nothing at all! So I have put it on a back-burner for now, until I am in a position to pay a photographer to do the pictures. I don’t think I am going to get anywhere with crowdfunding. I have too much on at present anyway: I have just started a new job and need to move house by the end of August, so am very busy and stressed at present. I need to focus on finding somewhere else to live, which won’t be easy. I’ll let you know what happens anyway.

I had a professional photographer do them. I couldn’t possibly do such good ones myself! He did a free sample for me, of 3 of my dishes from my Cookbook, which was very good of him. But I will need to pay him for the rest of the job, and I don’t have the money, hence this crowdfunding page.
I hope you will be able to collect funds for publishing a book.

That is an idea DocAndersen! Thank you. I might consider doing that if I can’t get anywhere with the book-publishing plan. If I knew how to do it, I would set up my own blog or website, publish my recipes there, and monetise it, so that if people want a recipe, they pay for it there and then, online. But I have no idea how to go about that, and I would still need money to create and host a website anyway – I would have to pay someone to do it, as I have no clue how. So that idea doesn’t get me any farther forward as yet.
Another option might be to share recipes with various people, and have them make them, sharing the pictures and their endorsement back with you!!!!
But another thing is, the photographs need to be professional-standard, or they won’t be much good. If it wasn’t for that, I would just photograph them all myself.

I know, thank you. Any way I attempt to get this off the ground, it is going to cost me money which I haven’t got, it seems. Hence crowdfunding. Worth a try!
