Serge Poliakoff (1900–1969) was a Russian born French avant-garde painter. Mostly famous for his large oil abstract paintings he painted every day, but supporting his and his quickly growing family by playing Russian folk songs on balalayka in nightclubs in Paris. Now his painting is highly recognised and his artworks are worth millions dollars, Poliakoff’s work is in a very prestigious museums, including the Kunstmuseum Bern, Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin, Museum of Modern Art, New York, Musée national d’Art moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, Solomon R.
