Before You

I knew him before you,

mapped out his places,

built a book of memories with him,

laughed and cried with him,

unappreciated him

and turned him loose

I’m the woman forever in his heart

and resident of his soul

a major love of his

who couldn’t stand to be loved

and now that he is yours

please treat him gently

a diamond in the rough

he needs a little polish

but he is a gem

letting him go is

my biggest regret,

my haunting mistake

  1. This poem actually speaks out the plight of someone who broke up with her hubby- a pain that many of us actually witness some day or the other in life- it is sad initially. But with time we will move on.
