Artist uses ‘found’ glass from sea to create beautiful mural

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Or, in this case, one woman has chosen to use her talents to turn trash into treasure.

Shelagh Swanson is a talented artist and one of the newer residents in historic Footdee, Scotland.

Shelagh lives in one of the village houses and opened a studio earlier this year  across the lane in a lovely shed.

A farmer’s daughter, Shelagh left the family farm to develop her talents as an artist. We met her on our first shore excursion aboard the M/V Corinthian with Grand Circle Cruise Line.

One of Shelagh’s projects is to use “found” sea glass to create a decorative mural on the wall outside her studio.

Outside her home are plastic bins where folks have been leaving the smoothed glass tossed ashore by the sea.
