Angel Baby Watercolor

This is one of my favorite watercolor techniques. I wrinkle the paper thoroughly before I begin painting so that I get this interesting stained glass type texture through the painting. I paint the background first. When the paper is completely dry I start painting the subject and the details. I love painting children. This little guy was the baby of a dear friend. She had just finished giving him a bath and set him down. I took the lampshade off the nearby lamp to get good strong light and took pictures of him. He was so mesmerized by the light he kept pointing at it. Perfect.
