Pui Tak Center, Chicago, Illinois

Pui Tak Center (2015-04-21 14-42-40 to 14-42-52)

The Pui Tak Center is located at 2216 South Wentworth, Chicago, Illinois. This is in Chicago’s Chinatown South. (There are actually two Chinatowns in Chicago.) It was originally known as the On Leong Merchants Association Building and was designed by Norwegian architects Christian S. Michaelsen and Sigurd A. Rognstad and opened in 1928. (They would have preferred to use a Chinese architect but, at the time, there were no licensed Chinese architects in Illinois.) The ornamentation was done by the American Terra Cotta Company of Crystal Lake, Illinois.

The building was purchased by the Chinese Christian Union Church and renamed the Pui Tak Center in 1993.The building is too large to fit in one photo using my camera so this image was stitched together from four photos using PS Elements 13.1 (Auto option with Vignette Removal and Geometric Distortion Correction selected). I then used ACDSee Ultimate 8.1 to apply perspective correction, adjust lighting, boost contrast, vibrance and saturation, and remove some distractions.
