The Alphabet Photo Challenge continues with the letter “C.” I chose “chicks” to represent this letter, specifically baby chicks.
This photo is one I took of last years purchase of Rhode Island Red chicks. They were sexed before buying and all of these little guys are actually girls. Every year or just about every year I add to my flock by purchasing 4-8 new baby chicks. I currently have 20 hens and 2 roosters.
I enjoy watching them grow and seeing what kind of personalities they have. You can usually note who is going to be the leader of the pack, the troublemaker or the quiet and timid one.
They are so cute. In childhood, I loved playing with them.
My parents were not much on pets so I never had baby chicks growing up. I love watching the babies grow and seeing their personalities develop. You can see who is going to be the leader, the bully or the shy one.
My grandson has chickens. He loves them. They are always sending me pictures of him holding them. It’s so cute.
Awe, how cute. I would love to have chickens, but have no room for them. I bet all the fresh eggs are awesome!
That’s the bonus, the eggs! We have fresh eggs year round. Winter months with the short days, we don’t get as many eggs, but enough for my family. That’s money I save at the grocery store.
Interesting that you can note who will be the leader of troublemaker. I didn’t know it was possible.
I think that is where the term pecking order comes from.
Thanks for letting me know where that phrase came from.
Kim is right, that is how the pecking order is established.
