#21 Emma

My sweet doggie is called 'Emma'. She is a rescue dog who was treated with extreme cruelty and disregard at a puppy mill. We adopted her about 9 years ago and she has been a little sweetheart, petrified at first, but given affection and love, she has become attached to me. Please beware of puppy mill dogs who are sometimes advertised by 'breeders' as 'purebreds' who place ads in newspapers. Emma says "Woof!"

#22 Lyra will be a lovely pet, hopefully very soon!

Not sure if it can be accepted, but Lyra is hosted in a shelter in Gournes Crete and is looking for a home. A sweet lady that I thought would be a nice addition to this contest. Thank you in advance!

#24 Jasmine

This is my dog Jasmine; she’s a red chow who can’t bark. She just makes this nickering sound, almost like a whinny. She’s quite strange and absolutely fluffy. You wouldn’t believe how fluffy she is but if I don’t brush her every day she just sheds everywhere… She would’ve been one hell of a temple guardian because she loves to scrap.

Jasmine is always hungry. One time she faked us all out and got fed three times in a row, it was her best day ever!

#27 Óscar ?

When a whole island is mourning his departure that is how loved Oscar was. Everyone knew him, on the island where I live. He was a caring dog and greeted and visited so many.  ?

Óscar was killed by a car a time ago. He of course is an animal, but sometimes that’s best. So My best friend was a dog.

#28 The researcher

He's Max. Our beloved. He's only 11 months old. Everything is very interesting to him when we go for a walk. He likes to walk in the small puddles in the rocks on the seashore. Every time they explore them. This time you were different and he certainly thought, "What does the sky with the clouds do here, it should be up there." He is still a little puppy and can not understand. But he will grow up and then he will understand everything.

#29 Hope my koala will get more eucalyptus

Hello everyone! Meet my pets Teddy and Bunny. Bunny is camera shy so she hides her face but Teddy is witty and photogenic and loves being  photographed. They are my stress reliever. I love hugging them at night. They love to eat fruits too. Would you like to adopt my pets? Their food is a little bit expensive, so I'm thinking about selling them.

#31 Nameowste

Two of my cats, Tiny and Jella, who also have the privilege to stay inside our house. Jella is Tiny's litter but they seem like they're just the same age. These two have a constant love-hate relationship; most of the time they would sit together just like what's shown in the picture, they would bathe each other and out nowhere they'd suddenly box each other and one has to leave the chair to prevent more conflict. I usually laugh at their crazy antics. They love the 'loaf bread' pose, and Jella (the tri-colored cat) is the queen of bleps.

#32 Ramona _ Yeah, I’m looking at YOU!

Yes, I am lookin' at you.  All the time,  No, you are not, not , not going to pick me up!  I hate being picked up.  Just leave me on the floor, or in this case on the table.  I like my four feet on the ground where I put them.  If you pick me up I'll scratch you!  Maybe bite too.  So watch out!  I take revenge.   You could pet me behind the ears. But that's it.

#33 Runt in his upside down phase

Here is my beautiful Runt (also known as Runty Dumpty) in his what I call his "upside down phase". Whenever we would play with them at that tender age of 5 to 6 months, he would start by going in a corner and go upside down and wait for us to start to play with him. What a cutie pie.

#37 My Big, Fat, Happy Family

To be clear- this is a part of my babies. Our family consists of two humans (my daughter and me), two dogs and twenty cats. I'm afraid there's no such skillful photographer to make a picture of all, because some tranquilizers would be necessary involved and I am not a fan of that stuff. My dogs are both taken from the street, as well as majority of cats. Those pretties on the picture are: Carla (the dog), Maxim, Momchilo, Strahinya, Izzy (grown up cats), Lenna, Lagertha and Locky (kittens). The older and also much bigger dog, Negro, prefers to be outdoor and bark to everyone passing by and other cats: Dooshitza (the one on my profile picture), Gimli, Piggy, Freddy, Emilio, Juliana, Christina, Dyurdya, Spook, Nemanya, Bella, Eliah and Nera, the kitten. There are many stories about our life and some  of them I've already shared. Besides my babies, I help in a local dog shelter by making houses, beds and pillows for upcoming winter. I would like to bring all abandoned animals to my house, but it's impossible. My babies are sometimes jealous, especially Carla, the newest member of our family. This bunch is the best medicine for everything and I am endlessly grateful for having them in my life.

  1. All of these photos are absolutely adorable. But why do the scores on some of the photos drop? Does this mean that users are down voting the entries? Why in the world would anyone down vote a photo of someone’s darling pet??? None of these photos deserves to be down voted. Why was this contest set up so that this could happen?

    • Hi Melissa, I am experiencing issues of vote numbers display connected with cookies. If I view this page in an incognito/private window without being logged in, I see the real vote numbers, but if I view in the normal way I see only one vote for my snails!

      • Thanks, Norman. Yeah, maybe it’s a cookie thing. I have something of an aversion to platforms that allow down voting. On Reddit and similar sites that allow it, you see posts with pictures of puppies, babies, grandmothers, etc. inevitably earn down votes from what I can only presume are immature a-holes. With so many real issues to disapprove of, I can’t for the life of me understand why someone would reject little bits of innocuous joy and warmth.

        P. S. I love your snail and her pup. What are their names?

        • That was Pedro and Pedrino, if I’m not confusing them (I had 3 adults and several babies at the same time, and it’s about 6 years ago) 🙂
In practice I have hardly ever seen the down-vote used (the owner of the post (not the individual picture) gets a notification of who votes up or down) though with this site’s rapid growth all is fluid.
Regarding your pair of goofs, I see just 3 votes from here, but 13 if I look incognito, so there may actually not be any downvoting taking place.
