Last week it finally heated up around the county. A town nearby reached 117 degrees for a record breaker. It was even over 100 degrees at the beach.
We decided to take all the dogs to Santa Margarita River in our northern part of SD county.
It was an overcast day, which made for some really cool reflections in the water.
The pictures below have gone to the dogs!! I hope you enjoy checking out our swimming day. The dogs spent most of the time in the water!
I used this one for the cover, his name is Keizer and is my sons dog. He is a cool mix, great dane mixed with husky. Makes for one big ole happy lug..
He has heterochromia. Two different colored eyes.
So does Luna, my Doberman Australian Shepherd mix. She is now 5 months old.
It is so green here! They are looking for the wolf.. (My other mixed breed dog) They cannot keep up with her, and have to keep on locating her.. It’s a tough job.
This is Lily my sons Doberman Pinscher, with Luna tagging along behind.
The dogs spot the wolf, behind the trees on the other side of the River. She went up that trail… There are three dogs in this shot. See the doberman ahead of the red dog? You can just barely see her head. Luna swims about half way but can’t be that far from her humans..She keeps close still.
Lily found the wolf! It’s hard to find her. Look at Lily’s expression if you can see it. lol
Then the wolf crosses..
And she reaches the shore. Her coat looks so smooth..
Until she shakes. lol
Time to go back across the river to hunt that rabbit.
The older dogs treat her like such a puppy. lol They left her to go hunting on the other side..
Luna is really good at amusing herself though..
She decided to dig holes by the bank and watch them fill in with water. lol She did this for about an hour.
Holes dug, now time for it to fill..
They older dogs never caught that pesky wabbit..
All in all, it was a very nice day and so cool in the dark shade by the waters edge.
I hope you enjoyed these, and have a great day!
Super shots, Kim! Those dogs know how to have fun. But 117 degrees (I converted it and got a shock!)
Thank you Norman, boy they do don’t they. Yes, 117 ew. I am so glad I am really close to the beach.. It was ONLY 100 here, with 75-80% humidity.
Great photos here, thank you for sharing! But wow…117!?!? And we think 95 is awful!
That temp actually hurts. It burns your skin, you can be in the shade and feel the sun on the ground around you. The last record was 112. Not often we get this weather, it comes from Arizona or Mexico. This is monsoon time in the desert.
Being out in the 95 degree sun can hurt too, so I can only imagine how much 117 would hurt! It’s good that it doesn’t happen often!!
Wait a minute and it will change..lol. I know how that is. It was like that in Arkansas were I used to live. Thank you Tas for the compliment. : )
Beautiful dogs and the photos .
Thanks so much Branka! Glad you enjoyed them.
heterochromia is a great word- different colors…
Do any of your pieces have eyes like that? hint.. : )
I have done it on occasion, but perhaps not as often as I should…
I love them all, but I love the one that shows the dogs splashing around and the camera caught it perfectly with no blurriness.
Thank you LaJenna. I loved that one as well, looks like a lil sister tagging along side a big sis.
All nice pictures, I feel like I went there! Well I am not so very far from SD after all. It has been triple digits all week up here in the Palm Springs area, but it did cloud over and rain for a while on Wednesday.
This was taken on Tuesday, right before our little storm hit you! Glad to see you got a little moisture. I love palm springs, and want to go hiking in the mountains to your east this fall. Or at least go up in the lift..
I have never been on the lift. Have you been to the top of Palomar?
I havent either, but my son just went a few months ago to the lift, they took vids. Im sold! Yes, I have been to Palomar, the old lens that they just replaced was put in by a close friend of the family. Love that mountain.
Bet the dogs do too!
Beautiful dogs and the photos are perfect shots Kim. So glad they have a cool place to get water and cool. The weather is crazy hot here but not that bad. The humidity is what we get a lot of. Can hardly breathe.
Thank you Carol. Like I said below, we don’t have an air conditioner. We usually only have to open a few windows during the hot months. I forgot to mention this was a monsoon heat wave, the humidity was in the 80’s. ick.
WOW! Very nice photos, they seems to enjoy themselves…!
They had hours of fun!! Both my daughter in law and I took hundreds of pictures. lol
Haha, just curious, what you usually do with those photos you took?
I mean there is a limit to storage and stuffs
The good ones go to an external hd.
Ah, ok get it!!
🙂
How many hd do you have now? lol
lol, just one 1. I do end up deleting most of them. Only the best of the best go to the hd.
I did enjoy seeing them. It is very hot here. I am staying indoors.
Thank you, sometimes that is the best move. We don’t have air conditioning here, well no one does on the beach. We usually don’t need it. So it was time to hit the water!! Our ocean temps are even at 74 degrees this week.
I always enjoy your posts and your dogs very much. This was a great idea to bring them all to cool down for a few hours. The weather here is also scorching. On July the 1st (Canada day) we had a whopping 48-49 degrees centigrade (humidex included). Yes we broke the all time record here in the Outaouais region. The festivities on Parliament Hill took on a downward spiral because of the excruciating heat. I found myself melting literally but not enough to lose any unwanted pounds (ha! ha!). And now the heat wave still continues on and off but mostly on. I will say I absolutely hate the hot and muggy weather. Sorry if I am venting on this comment. But please say Hi to Luna, Lily, Keizer and all the other dogs if you have any for me. I am glad that at least they had a chance to refresh themselves in the cool water.
Thank you Gal! Wow. 48-49. It feels like your face is going to melt off. Our heat wave lasted four days. We are having our normal 80 degree days here, finally. I love the summer, but these temps are pretty scary after they reach the 100 mark. 118 to 119 is insane.
I hope it cools down more for you all!!
It seems the dogs had a refreshing and funny day 😉
They did, and we sat around and just enjoyed watching them.
It was relaxing to you too 🙂
Wonderful dogs … you really enjoy them.
I couldn’t image life without cats and dogs! : )
