I’m Not Disposable!

Meet my rescue cat, Newt. I found it meowing plaintively in the woods by the roadside where it had been left. It was approximately six weeks old.

Newt was named after Carrie Henn’s character from the movie Alien, Sigourney Weaver’s sidekick. It soon became evident that my new pet was a he, not a she. The name fit.

I lost my Siberian Husky, Sasha earlier that year.  It had to be put down at 14 1/2 years old because its hips gave out completely.  I think it was intended that I rescue Newt and provide a forever home.

Please contact a shelter anytime you suspect an animal has been abandoned. Thank you for supporting your local animal shelter.

Do you own a rescue pet? I’d love to hear your story.

  1. Indeed. We have two cats that just adopred us. One had been abandoned but the other left a perfectly good home and moved in with us. Sorry about your furry child. We also lost our rescue doglet at the end of last year. Takes a lot of time to get used to.
