A DOG BREED NAMED “VELCRO”

The Cuban Havanese dog breed has won the hearts of many admirers with its silky long hair, deeply intelligent eyes, and huggable size, (including this writer) It was originally bred in the 1800’s as a companion dog to aristocratic Cubans. It’s earned itself the nickname of “Velcro dog” because it has an inborn tendency, to stick closely to its owner’s side. But don’t be tricked into believing it’s just a lapdog; the Havanese is highly trainable and most energetic. The Havanese has excelled in various dog sports and has held down various canine careers ranging from assisting the disabled to performing in circuses.
