Bluebird Blog 2018 ~ Three Eggs

Yes folks, we have three bluebird eggs today! A trio of little eggs in the nest. The female has been laying one egg per day. I wonder how many more she will lay. Time will tell. I have been checking the box and there are no ants or any predators hanging around. Being a Bluebird Mom is a full time job. One that I do not mind at all. So if I get behind on commenting on your posts you will know why. Stay tuned for more updates.

Bluebird fact of the day:  In the days before pesticides, farmers put up nestboxes around their fields, as they were aware that bluebirds eat many insects, and the fruit they eat during the winter is not of the cultivated variety. While bluebirds will compete for nesting sites and defend their own abode, they do not maliciously attack other birds, eggs or nests. They do no harm. Another reason to be so fascinated over these birds.

Every time I see a bluebird, I say, all this hard work is all worth while.

  1. I didn’t know they were so small either. I don’t know why but I figured they were the size of a robin egg, which is really absurd. That would be way too big. Congratulations on number 3! I am going for 5, yes that is what she will have,,hopefully.
