A miracle dog survival story from Virginia

Kayla Blake who is a fifth year student at James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia is one lucky lady who is very thankful that her pet dog named Rebel who has been her best friend for three years was found safe and sound two days later after a fire in the campus three story apartment on Thursday.

Kayla was not at her apartment on the third floor of her home when the fire started on Thursday evening since Kayla was on the road at the time of the incident which for her was a mixed bag of sadness and joy since she was still alive but her concern that her pet dog did not survive the fire.

To add insult to injury, the firefighters could not reach her third floor apartment to see if Rebel had survived the fire since the conditions to check out the damage from the fire was too dangerous to look after the fire was put out by the firefighters.

I am sure we have heard of the saying “It ain’t over till it’s over.” since two days later when Kayla went back to see what was left of her apartment, she heard the barking of her dog Rebel who managed to survive by hiding under a desk during the two days between the fire and the appearance of his owner.

Kayla was thankful that Someone upstairs watched over the safety of her best friend Rebel as they reunited in the presence of the rescue teams. Rebel only suffered a burn to his nose which is not life threatening.

One thing about dogs. Their ability to survive in a natural disaster in one word. Amazing.
