Over the course of the 7 years, I was a school teacher I learned two things. The first is that fair matters. The second is that no matter what we do as human beings, no matter what rules we have around us, doing the right thing matters. As a teacher in the beginning of the US AIDS (HIV) crisis i got written up for what happened in this story.

A child fell on the monkey bars, due to an unfortunate situation he cracked his arm on a metal playground bouncing frog (that was later moved). His arm literally split and the bone pushed out.

I grabbed his arm stopping the bleeding and carried him to the nurse.

All she asked me was “did you use the Aids kit?”

I would do it again, 100 times.

        • i hated getting yelled at for something I did, and then two weeks later the Superintendent calling me to say “based on the parents input you are getting an award/
for what I was yelled for.

there is no such thing as an atta boy coming from something stupid. THey never took the reprimands out of my file.

          • How retarded! I bet that killed them having to give you that reward. My old boss didn’t want me to be his assistant. I was the one who fielded phone calls. It was necessary for me to know where he was. Was he in the building? Was he even coming in today? (He lived in another city an hour away.) Was he in the field? Is he coming to the meeting or not? It got to the point to where I just quit trying to field the questions in a professional manner and just took messages for him. These people would call back over and over again. It was sad and really made him look bad. I ended up moving to another department that dealt with donations to the school. It was a much nicer department. Just me and the boss and he only worked from 8 or 9 till noon.

          • He just didn’t care. He wouldn’t answer his cell phone for anybody when he didn’t want to. I think he may have been leading a 2nd life.

          • Well I did get a good laugh when his picture was in the Baton Rogue newspaper when he got a DWI. I got a few phone calls on it too. Sorry, not my boss anymore and not my business! Karma will catch you sooner or later.

          • Oh no, you may have missed the story here. He has taken advantage of my mother in the past and was up until the time I brought her home from the hospital last year. The hospital even filed elderly abuse on him because he didn’t answer his phone for three days when they were trying to release her. He only visited her once and only 30 min away from hospital. Karma is due a big and long visit to him and his girlfriend. That is only a small part of what they did.

    • it was a horror, i actually got reprimanded twice, once by the principal for not using the AIDs kit, the other for telling the nurse that the child came first.
(the child’s parents stepped in, and the nurse got reprimanded by the parent group)!

  2. Yes, we do think the same way, completely agree with you.
Fair, did not happen to me as a child, and often I see bias towards others with no good reason.

I can’t explain the unfair, but forgiveness is essential. My unfair treatment was initiated by an unfortunate chain of events that could have continued in a cycle, such as the middle east or other war torn areas, some years ago they did this to me, therefore..

It goes on and on. If we put away our own issues and decide to be fair, we change history.
